The company was born when Grahame started up his own upholstery workshop 'GEM Upholstery' in 1971 at the tender age of 19. He had become an apprentice to his uncle when he left school but soon decided to take the plunge and go it alone. Fast forward over 40 years and Grahame now has a great team working with him. We are a firm believer at GEM Upholstery of ensuring the trade is passed down to the younger generations. Grahame's son and business partner Jeff has worked at the firm since leaving school. Two of our upholsterers started work with the firm upon leaving school and they are still ‘on the bench’ today – over 15 years later. We also have highly skilled seamstresses with vast experience in the trade.
